Our Project LifeStraw team returned from the Sertao, Brazil in February of this year with some great results. In April of this year, LifeStraw issued an international impact report on Project LifeStraw Brazil. Here are the final numbers for that project:

- Home filters in 114 homes representing at least 379 individuals

- Large filtration units in 4 schools representing at least 539 students between the ages of 2 – 16

- 2 communities impacted

- Families, community leaders, government and health officials educated in the proper use and cleaning of the filtration units

- Our Brazil Gateway Outreach/Alcance Vidas team is educated and equipped to provide efficient follow up in these communities to ensure long-term impact

As a result of this project, hundreds (maybe thousands) of men, women, and children now have access to clean drinking water. This will improve serious health issues, such as the epidemic of stomach cancer, for years to come. If you were able to view the photos on Facebook or Instagram during the project, you were able to see the almost MAGICAL difference between the absolutely FILTHY water that went into the top end of the LifeStraw filters (brown muddy color), and the PURE, clear drinking water that emerged from the bottom end. I’ve been told that the demonstration was so DRAMATIC, that it bolstered the faith of the LifeStraw team members in their product. I cannot tell you how much we appreciate LifeStraw being on board with us! What a truly superior quality product (check them out)! Many thanks to Tara MacDowell, social impact manager with LifeStraw, and Shelley Bennett with Gateway Outreach for leading this awesome team!

We already have another community selected for our next project (date –TBA). The name of the community is Palmacia. GO and AV have already been at work in Palmacia. Our team in Brazil needs ongoing resources to enable us to provide care and; hope in these communities, so your prayers and donations are crucial to the mission. Thank you for being a part of this worthy cause!
